Machine learning assisted certification of quantum devices

Description: Certifying the proper functioning of quantum devices required characterizing the quantum states they prepare using quantum state tomography. This methods is experimentally costly and not scalable to large system sizes. In this project we will explore ways to make this process more efficient using prior information about the prepared state and adaptive measurement strategies, combined with machine learning methods.

Prerequisite knowledge: Solid knowledge of quantum mechanics, Python or Julia programming skills, Advantageous: Basic knowledge of statistical estimation theory and machine learning
Internship period and planned duration: 3 months between February and October 2022
